Now that the shock has subsided...

Last week was a vacation week -- we went out to the Chycken Ranch for a rest. Jonathan decided he would like to be a farmer (we already knew that one of his favorite toys was a tractor, but this was even better).

Yes, Jonathan was thoroughly enthralled by the tractor. But anyway, the vacation was really nice for us, too. It wasn't quite warm enough to get in the pool, but that didn't stop us.Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Yeah, I forgot to mention that the air temperature was in the upper 70s, while the water temperature sat steadily at 60. Obviously that didn't bother Jonathan. It actually felt pretty good after a long run (it's not the distance; it's the hills) or after hard yard work (cutting down Mom's ornamental grass). I did quite a bit of running; I think I probably put in about 17-18 miles (for being there 5 days and not running one of those days, that's not bad). I did get some new adidas a3 ultraride shoes

Tara and I got to go for a date; we went and saw Star Wars Episode 3. It was great. OK, so there were some moments where we were forced into disbelief suspension mode (not to give any spoilers, but I couldn't see a woman of Padme's size giving birth to one full-term baby, let alone twins). And, come on, Mr. Lucas, I've seen women who have just given birth, and they don't look like that. And those twins were huge for newborns. Especially twins. But that aside (and some stilted dialogue, mostly between Anakin and Padme), the movie was awesome.

Oy vey. I didn't mean for this to end up being a "what did you do on your summer vacation?" essay. I wanted to record some thoughts about the upcoming move, but the thoughts mostly came while on vacation, so I guess that's why I included the vacation stuff.

So here's what I'm thinking. I wish I could go out to NK now and help them fix up the parsonage. I have to miss A.S.P. this year, so this would be a good substitute. Plus it would get me a chance to meet the people and to really get to know them (you get to know a guy better in one day on a worksite than in ten years of Sunday church attendance, in my opinion). My plan is to get in there, start getting to know the people, and loving them. Nothing fancy. Nothing drastic. Just getting to know them. Listening to their stories. Hearing their dreams. Preaching the Bible. If I go wrong doing that, well, then I must have taken a wrong turn at Albequerque.

And if you could get your hands into the fixing-up of the parsonage, you would know what you were getting -- and it would be to your liking. Ah well. I hear hardwood floors are part of the picture. Gotta love that...

hey! thanks for linking this to your xanga! i wish you weren't leaving. i'm really beginning to lose all ties to Stonybrook, and you were the one person that I always looked forward to seeing. now there's not even that. i've already been going to church with jeff, and it's nice and all...but i miss stonybrook the way it used to be. and it's not going to be anything like that without you. i do hope the best for you and your family, and i hope you guys are able to enjoy your last few months in gahanna :-) hopefully, i'll get to see lots of you before you leave! have a great memorial day weekend!

I must say that Star Wars was very cool indeed putting aside the annoying droids in the beginning and the things that you mentioned as well. Besides that i think it was a very good film to end the Star Wars saga developed by Lucas himself.

It is also good to hear that you have a plan ahead of you.
