I Did It
Yesterday was my solo - of course it happened to be on the first snow day we've had in town, so attendance was way down. I scheduled no guitar-led praise songs so I could make sure that my voice was ready and that I was less nervous...
However, the choir always practices before service, and I needed to get down there and practice (and warm up), but because I'm so used to greeting people between the Sunday School and worship service hour, I didn't get down there quite in time. They were already midway through the song, and I'd missed the first verse. So I practiced on the second verse, and then went directly upstairs to start service - I was still coming up the stairs when the bell was ringing, when usually I like to spend a little time preparing myself for the service. Thus I started out halfway flustered... that's when it's great to have a prelude played after the announcements! I asked people to use that time to prepare their hearts for what God had for them, and I obeyed!
When it came time for the choir song, I have to admit that I was embarrassed that my name was in the bulletin as soloist. We always do that, but it made me feel strange. So I said something lame and then we went up to sing. My mouth was really dry, not because I was nervous, but because the building is typically really dry (note to self: if I'm going to be singing, bring water!)
I did a decent job singing the song - not fantastic, but not bad. I didn't miss notes, but I did better in practice on Wednesday. After service, someone suggested that I might end up on American Idol. Probably as this guy.

I don't know, Thief--some judge might accuse you of looking like a bush baby or something! Be sure you are thick-skinned before you try that American Idol business.
Wow,congrats on your big solo! I'm glad it went so well!
CONGRATS!!! You'll have to sing it for me sometime! ;) Did you have nightmares about it Saturday night? Before a big preformance, I dream I'm on stage and my pants fall down...EWW! Oh wait! That really happened once... Anyway, Congratulations!
