Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday and I further hope that your attitude of gratitude will extend into the Christmas season and beyond into 2008!

We had a wonderful time together as a family, and, as usual, I got to eat all of my favorite foods. Grilled turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry stuffing, homemade rolls, beans, pumpkin pie...

If you'd like to read my Thanksgiving sermon, which I delivered at our NK Community Thanksgiving service, you can find it here.

How did your Community Thankgiving sermon go? Were a lot of your church members present?

I remember doing a Community Graduation service once, where I was tagged to read the NT lesson. I chose Paul's "It's time to put childish ways behind you". Unfortunately, it followed the Baptist youth pastor's reading of Dr. Seuss. The Baptist's thought I was being mean.

The sermon was a home run. I don't remember when I had so many positive comments.

As for numbers, there were maybe a dozen of "our people" at the service. Not a great turn out (the fact that it was raining and cold didn't help things!). And everyone pretty much sat in the way back of the sanctuary under the (balcony) overhang.

And I don't think you were being mean for reading Paul. You were maybe the only counter-cultural voice there, as our culture tells them they have another 10 years of childhood and then as long as they want, never having to mature.
